Pure Neutral characters are under Rank 0. This a type of character that is beyond being placed in as good or evil and is purely independent of the two. These characters are nestled within the Completely Ambiguous area of the Moral Spectrum. These characters are different from the other variants of Completely Ambiguous characters since these characters are absolutely not good or evil and is on a different tier of morality than that of good and evil. These characters also possess moral agency that either cannot be comprehended or is fundamentally different from anything that is known to be good or evil.
Examples of Pure Neutral characters:
- Animals: Animals in nature are known to run on instinct and follow their own nature for survival. These beings are not concerned with good or evil. In addition, this only includes animals that are not personified to be human in any way.
- Artificial Intelligence: An Artificial Intelligence that was pre-programmed to do what the programmer or engineer programmed it to do. They may be able to speak or have a type of role in the story, but this character is only doing with what's its creator made it to do and lacks any idea of individuality or self-awareness of itself.
- Eldritch Abominations: These are beings that are simply beyond human comprehension. While some may have appearances that can terrify others or drive them insane, Eldritch Abominations can possess a moral agency that is unlike anything for human beings to understand. Their actions and motives are not understood by humanity and they only function in their own ways for their own purposes. Some of these beings may be cosmic beings meant to maintain order in the universe or they may only exist to serve a specific role, but in many cases these beings are usually beyond the notions of good and evil and operate under different moral notions.
- Sentient Weapons: Similarly to Artificial Intelligence, Sentient Weapons, are only made to fulfill its purpose as a weapon by its creator. These characters also lacks an idea of self-awareness and individuality, and lacks moral agency that can make them either good or evil.
