Scale of Heinousness

The Scale of Heinousness. The most heinous concepts on the left to the least heinous concepts on the right.

The Scale of Heinousness is a scale used to determine the heinousness of a character. It is used to show where certain concepts on the Moral Spectrum are on the scale of how heinous they are. On the left of the scale, it shows the most heinous characters to whereas on the right, it shows the least heinous characters.

The table below starts from the most heinous concepts at the top to the least heinous concepts at the bottom.

Concepts Description
Pure Evil, Near Pure Evil, and Inconsistently Heinous Both In-Story Heinous Standards and General Heinous Standards surpassed.


This is for characters that are Rank 1 -, Rank 2 -, and Rank 3 -. These type of characters are the most heinous or one of the most heinous in their works. They surpass both the general and in-story heinous standards and stand out due to their own actions. These characters are usually considered to be the most heinous or for some of them above-average when it comes to their actions. Inconsistently Heinous characters do not fail any of the heinous standards. Unlike Near Pure Evil and Pure Evil, Inconsistently Heinous is the only one that can be redeemed regardless of how heinous their actions were.

Near Pure Evil (Class B Only) General Heinous Standards surpassed but fail to meet In-Story Heinous Standards.


This is for characters that are in Rank 2 - that are in Class B. This is a specific type of Near Pure Evil character that fails the In-story Heinous standards to Pure Evil character(s), Near Pure Evil character(s), or Inconsistently Heinous character(s). Despite failing the In-story heinous standards, these characters still surpass the General Heinous Standards and have no redeeming qualities. Their heinous actions are usually emphasized by their lack of any redeeming qualities and are shown to be exceptionally evil because of their lack of redeeming qualities. In spite of their actions, they do fail to stand out to other characters due to the high heinous standards.

Villainous Benchmark Meets heinous standard to be a villain, but either: fails to meet the General Heinous Standards and In-Story Heinous Standards or meets only the In-Story Heinous Standards but fails the General Heinous Standards.


This is for characters that are in the Rank 4 -. This is for characters that fail both the General Heinous Standards and the In-Story Heinous standards. These characters still surpass the basic heinous standards that makes a character a villain and a character a nonvillain. Their actions are often the norm for the story they are a part of and does not stand out enough to be surpass the General Heinous Standards and In-Story Heinous Standards. While the actions of some of these characters may appall and generate outrage from characters in the story and the audience, they fail to stand out.

Ill-natured Fails to meet the Heinous Standards to be a villain.


This is for characters that are in the Rank 0. These characters fail to meet the heinous standards to make them villains. These are considered nonvillains that are comprised of jerks and mischief-makers. These characters can do things that can be evil, can inconvenience others and can be antagonists, but their actions do not stand out enough to make them villains.
